FR-EE has developed a new landmark cultural institution that acts as a platform for humanistic dialogue. The building consists of a set of 11 interconnected spheres housing the museum’s permanent and temporary exhibitions.
The architecture has a dynamic, fluid and open structure, simultaneously powerful and lightweight. The building rests on lower spheres that intersect the ground plane to create a semi-covered plaza that functions as both outdoor exhibition space and a civic amenity.
Designed to be constructed with lightweight and durable materials, the project showcases different sustainable construction technologies to achieve considerable energy and water savings and minimal waste generation.
