fr·ee debuts Border City at London Design Biennale

September 6, 2016

fr·ee’s vision for a binational city on the US-Mexico border was unveiled at the 2016 London Design Biennale. Rooted in the long history of places where frontiers meet, cities where cultures both clash and blend, Romero’s vision is a place where borders are not binary, emphasizing a way in which people and goods can move more freely across the US-Mexico border.

“This is a long-term vision, a utopian vision that is not about building walls but about thinking more ambitiously about the mutual relationship [between Mexico and America] and about what borders between countries really mean,” noted Romero.
